Dhokaney Waterfall in Almora
Dhokaney Waterfall is 18 kilometres before Almora, near Suyalbari where a road diverges upwards on the right. The location of Dhokaney is reached after a short 2 km journey on this very quiet highway.
An unpaved road on the left, just before reaching the hamlet, leads downhill to the waterfall. People are being directed to the waterfall by signs painted on the rocks. The water’s gurgling sound can be heard from the road itself.
If you’re confident enough, you can drive your vehicle downhill. The waterfall, on the other hand, is only a 5-minute stroll downhill. In the heart of a lovely pine forest, there is a stunning waterfall. The entry fee is INR 100 Per Person on which different people may have different opinions obviously.
In the Dhokaney village, there are a few stores where people may get chai and food. There are other road-side restaurants where you can have lunch once you reach the main road and leave the village behind. The water falls into a pool surrounded by mountains and fauna as it cascades down the rock. A wonderful alternative for a day of picnicking in the woods. KMVN keeps the place in good shape. There are benches where you may rest and enjoy the view of the waterfall, as well as a hot cup of tea and pakoras from the nearby shack. Swimming is also an option, as is simply playing and having fun in the water.
A dark green pool collected the frothy white water below. It was quite serene and silent, with only the rushing sound of water and the chirping of birds breaking the silence. We could relax and gaze at the gorgeous surroundings for as long as we wished on a few wooden chairs set up in a little area near the waterfall. On the mountain slopes, there was also a little maggi stall and a few tents, but no one was there.
