Gurudwara Dudh Wala Kuan in Nanakmatta
Gurudwara Gurudwara Nanak Matta Sahib is close to Doodh Wala Khuan (Kuan) Sahib. The cows were plentiful among the Siddhas who lived here. Bhai Mardana displayed an interest in milk. Guru ji instructed him to go to the yogis and request some milk. The Siddhas refused to offer him any milk and mocked him by ordering him to go see his Guru for milk.
Guru Sahib collected all the milk from the yogis’ cows and stored it in a well using his spiritual skills. This well’s water is reputed to taste like milk. Since then, this well has been known as the Doodh Wala Khuh, or the Well of Milk. Following the construction of the ancient well, the Gurudwara is built.

In Nanakmatta Sahib, when Sri Guru Nanak Dev saw the holy water of the well, it turned into a flood of milk. When the servants sipped the milk, it tasted like nectar. Its example can be found in the Guru writings. This holy site is today known as the milk well. Dera Kar Seva, a religious organisation, has taken the initiative to beautify the area by building a majestic structure. The site is being redesigned under the supervision of Jathedar Baba Tarsem Singh.

Work on Amrit Sanchar Hall, a room for incoming fellow travellers, a spectacular construction on the milk well, flowers for flowing water, and other projects has begun. Apart from Baba Tarsem Singh Nanakmatta Sahib, Nanakpuri Tanda, and Reetha Sahib, who serve with the sangat in all the state’s Gurdwaras, have been built in the Gurdwaras.
