Jhula Devi Temple in Ranikhet, Almora District

Jhula Devi Temple, one of Ranikhet’s main attractions, is an 8th-century temple located in Chaubatia Gardens, 7 kilometers from the city center. Jhula Devi temple, located in the Kumaon Himalayan range of Uttrakhand, is highly regarded by devotees from all over the world.

Lord Durga, the temple’s presiding deity, sits on a wooden swing (Jhula), hence the name “Jhula Devi Temple.” According to the locals, the temple’s main deity, Goddess Durga, protects them from wild animals.

People even claim that the goddess continues to bless even after many years of formation. Despite being a forest area with animals such as leopards and tigers, the area is still accessible to locals.

The current temple complex, built-in 1935, covers a large area and is well-known throughout the country for the countless number of bells that bear witness to the divine and healing powers of “Maa Jhula Devi.”
