Mata Murti Temple in Mana Village
Mata Murti Temple, located 4 kilometers from Badrinath Bus Stand, is an ancient Hindu temple on the banks of the Alaknanda River near Badrinath.
The temple honors Mata Murti, the mother of two sons, Narayan and Nara. According to mythology, Mata Murti pleaded with Lord Vishnu to take his next incarnation (avatar) by emerging from her womb. Lord Vishnu agreed and emerged from her womb as twins, Nar and Narayan, to kill a demon.
According to popular belief, the goddess has the power to grant Vairagya to those who meditate here sincerely. Visitors flock here to worship Mata Murti on Shukla Tritiya, Ashtami, and Chaturdashi. The mother of Sri Badrinath is worshipped with great devotion during Mata Murti Ka Mela.
